Sometimes it just comes down to asking one more question – preferably the right one.

Get some inspo why asking questions should become a big part of your life.

The whole family is staring in disbelief (bordering on horror) at the table.

Sitting on a wooden tray is the biggest piece of meat anyone of us has had put in front of them – maybe apart from the goose at Christmas…

I’m still trying to decide if we can eat all of this between the four of us, when the waiter puts a second tray down. 😮

Rewind 30 minutes…

Arriving at the restaurant the nice but very sales-savvy waiter starts recommending entrees before we even sit down.

He also recommends the Bistecca Fiorentina, a Tuscan specialty that we haven’t tried yet.

He tells us one Bistecca Fiorentina is for two people, and as we are four we order two of them.

When asked for the sides we order four and then one salad to share.

He shakes his head and tells us the salad would be too much.

We are startled – but don’t follow up.

Turns out this is a big mistake.

Cos one Bistecca Fiorentina has nearly 2 kilograms.

In bed I muse that this once again showed that it’s always the question that you don’t ask that creates problems.

I’ve seen it over and over again…

* Questions remaining unasked in projects until changing direction has become really expensive.

* Questions about expectations or requirements put on the backburner.

* Or running with assumptions or recommendations without asking specifics.

Even when there are warning signs (hello?? one additional side salad between the four should be too much?)

As coaches asking is an integral part of our day so you might think that this story has nothing to do with you.

But think about it a little bit longer.

I’m sure there are areas in your business where you skipped asking and it hurt you…

Like when you bought a course, that did not bring the ROI that you hoped for.

The app or program you bought, that is missing one feature that is really important for you.

Or the client from hell where you ignored warning signs (hello the salad).

Sometimes it is not even necessary to ask the question to the other person.

Sometimes it’s just asking yourself.

Keep asking

P.S. The meat was delicious and well worth the try – and the next day we had a big salad and the left overs and it was still enough for the whole family 😀

P.P.S. Now it comes in handy, that I prepared 10 juicy questions to hone in on your niche. Don’t make the same mistake as I did and ask (yourself) the essential questions…
